c. Braking

To stop the vehicle (in IBS), press the integrated brake lever for the application of front brake and integrated brake simultaneously. However, for more effective braking, it is advised to apply both front brake and integrated brake simultaneously, keeping the throttle in closed position.

• When slowing down the vehicle, coordination of the throttle (1), front brake lever (2) and integrated brake lever (3) is important.

Sudden and too tight brake application may cause the wheels to lock occasionally, thereby affecting the ride control.

Brake Pad Wear | Brake pad wear depends upon the severity of usage, the type of riding & road conditions. Generally, the pads will wear faster on wet & dirty roads.

Getting the brake pads inspected at regular maintenance interval is important. Inspection - Check the wear indicator grooves on each pad.

Brake Shoe Wear | Please follow all safety precautions (already covered in this Owner's Manual).

The rear brake is equipped with brake wear indicators. When the brake is applied, an arrow mark on the brake arm moves towards a reference mark on the brake panel.

Integrated Brake (Drum Type) - If the arrow aligns with the reference mark on full application of brake, the brake shoes must be replaced. Visit any VIDA Authorized Workshop for repairs.

Warning: -

Re-generative energy generation would be limited to some/complete extent at Higher SOC (State of Charge) and/or Higher Traction Battery temperatures. For example, if you are already at 100% SOC, there is no further scope to charge your Traction Batteries. Re-generative energy thus harnessed can't go to traction battery to enhance SOC any further. During this condition you may have to apply slightly higher braking force manually to have the same braking effect.

• When approaching a corner or turn, close the throttle (1) fully, and slow down the vehicle by pressing both front brake lever (2) and integrated brake lever (3) at the same time.

• After completing the turn, open the throttle gradually to accelerate the vehicle.

• When descending a steep gradient, close throttle (1) fully and by pressing both front brake lever (2) and integrated brake lever (3) at the same time.

Avoid continuous use of the brakes without real need of braking (speeding and then reducing erratically), which may result in overheating of brake system and reduction of braking efficiency.

• When riding on wet or loose surfaces, be cautious.

For your safety:

• Keep the vehicle as upright as possible.

• Be cautious when riding over slippery surfaces such as railway tracks (crossing), iron plates, manhole covers, painted lines, etc.

• Exercise caution when braking, accelerating or turning.

• Ride at slower speeds and allow yourself some extra stopping distance.
